Advantages of Vortex Pump

The characteristics of small volume and light weight of scroll pump are of great superiority in ship equipment. It has self-priming ability or can realize self-priming by means of simple devices. It has a steep head characteristic curve, so it is insensitive to pressure fluctuation in the system. Some scroll pumps can realize vapor-liquid mixing. This is of great significance for pumping volatile liquids containing gases and high temperature liquids with high vaporization pressure. The structure of the scroll pump is simple, casting and processing technology are easy to achieve. Some parts of the scroll pump can also use non-metallic materials, such as plastic, nylon die impeller and so on.

Defects of Vortex Pump

1. Low efficiency, up to 55%, the efficiency of most scroll pumps is 20-40%, which hinders its development towards high power.

2. The cavitation performance of the scroll pump is poor.

3. Vortex pump can not be used to pump viscous medium. With the increase of liquid viscosity, the head and efficiency of the pump will be drastically reduced (Public No. pump manager), and the viscosity of the medium will be limited to 114 centimeters.

4. The strict requirement of radial and axial clearance between impeller and pump body of scroll pump makes it difficult to process and assemble.

5. The medium pumped is confined to pure liquids. When solid particles are contained in the liquid, the axial and radial clearance will increase due to wear, which will reduce the performance of the pump or cause the scroll pump to not work.
